TGS ATL MEMBER SINCE 2021

Meet Jay Veal.

Jay Veal is the CEO of INC Education, the #1 African-American owned private tutoring and education company in the US as well as the top online tutoring company for BIPOC in the nation. The company is a $1M brand in the private tutoring space. He is also Founder/CEO of The Jay Veal Brand, which is a Dallas-based premier consulting brand that deploys education, business, and credit consulting as well as Airbnb real estate. He has been a Black Enterprise contributor for education and credit.

He also founded Black Tutors of Social Media, a Dallas and Atlanta-based edtech NPO. During the pandemic, Jay pivoted to see what else he could offer the world outside of the highly-decorated tutoring company. He wanted to give black-owned private tutoring companies a platform and public directory to convene and offer services and resources so the public could find them as they support families and students during this time and beyond.

In addition to the platform, BTSM aims to close achievement gaps, belief gaps, and opportunity gaps with 6 nonprofit community programs for all students at large. With the minority family in mind, BTSM was created to be a safe haven where families could find resources that looked and operated like them for their educational and social needs.

He is on the Forbes Next 1000 list and has been featured in major media outlets including Black Enterprise, Forbes, Entrepreneur, Business Insider, NBC, Roland Martin #Unifiltered, Ebony Magazine Podcast, Exceptional People Magazine, and more. He serves on the board of Rae’s Hope and Big Thought.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT TGS?

My favorite thing about TGS are the Circles and the camaraderie that the team has with one another. In addition, the ability to network with such great individuals and have opportunities to collab to solve problems of today is great.

if you could have dinner with 3 people, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?

If I could have dinner with three people, they would be General Colin Powell, Virgil Abloh, and Michael Jackson.

General Colin Powell was a GREAT leader and one to admire for his courage, superior leadership, and as a role model for the black and brown community.

The creative spin that Virgil had on shoes with off-white concepts was second to none. I’d like to tap into his mind to see where he gets the creativity from.

Michael Jackson was one of the greatest entertainers of all time.

what motivates you?

What motivates me everyday is to do good and make the world a better place while leaving it better than I found it. Since the pandemic, there have been so many issues with education from the K-12 space to now the collegiate space. Students have been suffering all over the country. INC Education has a unique and solid solution for addressing academic gaps, believe gaps, and opportunity gaps. I’m dedicated to helping to continue solving problems in Ed for the black and brown community.

what’s one hidden skill or talent that you possess that people might not know?

One hidden skill or talent that I possess is that I am bilingual in Spanish. I spent 7 years in Arizona where I learned the language and then practiced for some years. Muchas personas creen que soy Cubano porque hablo español en un acento bueno.
