TGS DC MEMBER SINCE OCT 2018.

Meet Erika.

Erika Tribble completed her undergraduate advertising degree at Florida State University. She landed her first advertising internship at DDB Chicago and her second internship at Saatchi & Saatchi NY. Her strong advertising and production experience was gained through working across some of America’s favorite brands including Wendy’s, Procter & Gamble, General Mills, IBM, IKEA, and Unilever during her 8 years in NY.

Word was spreading that the production scene in Atlanta was beginning to flourish and Erika set her goals on transforming her advertising experience into a management role at an Atlanta production company. Through hard work, she became the season 2 Production Manager on “The Awesomes,” an animated Hulu series produced by Seth Myers and Michael Shoemaker. She also lent her experience to advertising agencies as a senior integrated producer at JWT and Fitzco, working on the US Marine Corps, Pennzoil, McCormick, and Coca-Cola. The pressure being felt nationwide to produce multipurpose content for radio, TV, web, and social, strengthened Erika’s ability to produce multipurpose deliverables for all platforms.

Where many succumbed to the pressures being felt nationwide during the effects of COVID in 2020, Erika saw opportunity. Remote work was a new way of life so she accepted a remote freelance opportunity at a previous employer, Ogilvy NY and helped Instagram launch their first brand campaign. Following the success of the national remote campaign, Erika was hired to lead social content on the Starbucks brand as a Senior Producer at Big Spaceship.

Outside of TGS, Erika Tribble is a proud BISON, a Howard University student pursuing her Executive MBA and enjoys exploring her new home in the DMV.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT TGS?

I joined The Gathering Spot in 2018 in the search for community and found much more. I found family. I love our club members and patronizing our talented black owned businesses. After attending the DC Opening Gala, I fell in love with the people and culture of DC and moved to the DMV to become a part of the TGS DC club. My love for TGS and my passions surround making the club a great experience for the members.

If You Could Have Dinner with 3 people, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?

1) Michelle Obama because I want a “Michelle Obama Hug” and to learn more about resilience.

2) Issa Rae (my best friend in my head) to further grow my production knowledge and to help me navigate the next stages of my career.

3) My Aunt Vern who passed away unexpectedly during COVID and inspired me to return to college for my masters.

What is one piece of advice that you would share with your younger self?

1 Corinthians 14:33 “God is not the author of confusion…”

Listen to your inner peace. That peace will always show you the route to take. When you’re in the midst of stress and confusion “Be still” (my mom’s voice)

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Flight Attendant or a Veterinarian
