TGS ATL MEMBER SINCE 2021

Meet Erica Wright.

Erica Wright is the founder of U First, Inc., a registered 501(c) (3) non-profit organization located in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2014, Erica started a movement that leads her team’s commitment to provide people experiencing homelessness with hygiene items, sack lunches and water in-care packages called “The Love Bag.”

Since its inception and through the generous donations from their amazing supporters, The U First team has been afforded the opportunity to distribute well over one million hygiene “Love Bags” to our most vulnerable citizens in metro Atlanta and beyond. U First has shared its gift of love across 24 states and even Paris, France. All of these efforts have been made possible by the continued support of individuals and organizations committed to helping those less fortunate and in need of assistance.

Erica is the youngest of four children who were born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia to two amazing parents, Leroy & Minnie Pittman, Jr. She is a proud mother and grandmother. Erica was educated in the Atlanta Public School System and attended Atlanta Area Technical College where she earned her Master Cosmetology and Master Barbering Licenses. Erica furthered her education by attending Gwinnett Technical College where she majored in Marketing Management Entrepreneurship.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT TGS?

My favorite thing about TGS is the diversity of networking opportunities.

What IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D SHARE WITH YOUR YOUNGER SELF?

I would tell my younger self to never allow fear to blindside your true abilities. You are more than capable despite what circumstances may present.

IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH 3 PEOPLE, DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?

Oprah Winfrey – I pick Oprah because she’s a wealth of knowledge and I know I could grow from her strength and wisdom.

Steve Jobs – his creativity led a phenomenal venture that all started in the garage of his home. I would love to hear what motived that process and grow from that.

Mother Teresa – her compassion to put others before self and help the most vulnerable is an inspiration and is why I do what I do.

what MOTIVATES YOU?

What motivates me is seeing someone who may be struggling but still giving their best despite the hand they are dealt. It encourages me to go above and beyond. I want to be able to help the less fortunate not only live but to thrive.
