DC Community Board Candidate

Meet Christian

My name is Chris Nestor. I was Born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, I hail from a Haitian immigrant family, deeply rooted in culture and tradition. Fluent in French and Haitian Creole, I find joy in bridging cultural divides and fostering understanding across languages.

My academic journey led me to Howard University, where I pursued a degree in Political Science with a minor in Leadership. Following graduation, I started on a new adventure as a Second Lieutenant in the DC National Guard, serving as a Platoon Leader and honing my leadership skills.

Driven by a desire to advocate for justice, I pursued a legal education at Loyola New Orleans College of Law. Graduating in May 2020, I swiftly navigated the challenges of the bar exam, proudly earning admission to the District of Columbia Bar in January 2021.

My legal career began in the immigration sector, where I dedicated myself to serving the Haitian community through a nonprofit organization. Currently, I work as a practitioner of VA Disability Law at Gordon & Partners, leveraging my legal expertise to empower veterans and ensure their rightful benefits.

In addition to my legal work, I proudly serve as a Captain in the US Army Reserve. Outside of lawyering and military duties, I lend my expertise as a member of the boards of Uplift Haiti and the Patriot Art Foundation.

I also was appointed to the DC Bar’s John Payton leadership academy, a member of the DC Bar’s Young Lawyers Network Leadership Council, and a founding member of the Haitian American lawyers association of the DMV.

When not immersed in legal matters or military duties, you can find me on the soccer field, traveling, or hitting the gym to stay fit and active.

With a passion for exploration, I have traversed the globe, journeying through over 30 countries and immersing myself in diverse cultures and landscapes. This love for travel fuels my curiosity and drives my quest for knowledge.
