WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT TGS?

I enjoy the family aspect of TGS. We have members from all backgrounds that descend upon TGS for amazing opportunities to network, connect, educate and empower. To be in a room full of people that are always rooting for you creates a familial bond that can’t be replicated anywhere else.

WHAT ACCOMPLISHMENT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?

I am most proud of my Legacy Top 40 Under 40 award that I received in 2020. To be recognized for doing the work my parents instilled in me at a young age, was beyond belief. During that time, we were newly navigating a pandemic and the resurgence of protecting Black bodies and for Legacy to select me was an extreme honor.

WHAT’S ONE HIDDEN SKILL OR TALENT THAT YOU POSSESS THAT PEOPLE MIGHT NOT KNOW?

I can play the piano and sing. I’ve played the piano since I was 5. I grew up singing in my church choir and most of the women in my family can sing. However, I wouldn’t dare touch a microphone now, aside from the occasional karaoke night.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D SHARE WITH YOUR YOUNGER SELF?

I’d tell my younger self to slow down, just a little. When I was younger I thought I was running out of time, so I threw myself into everything and even sacrificed myself more than I should have because I wanted and needed to serve. But, it forced me to fail forward so I don’t regret it, I just wish I would’ve learned earlier that it was a marathon not a sprint.
