Meet Desire.

Desire Lovey Mae (She/Her/They) is an activist, actor, writer, and director from Toledo, Ohio currently living in the DMV area. She holds an AA degree with a concentration in Theater from Owens Community College as well as a BFA in Acting from Howard University. She is currently working towards becoming an intimacy choreographer! She loves writing stand up and performing comedic sketches. She also loves to create and devise new work that is honest and holds space to tell the stories that need to be told specifically about BIPOC and the LGBTQ+ community. Desire enjoys connecting to other souls this way in hopes that their work is a catalyst that sparks needed conversations.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT TGS?

My favorite thing about TGS is the melting pot of beautiful, creative, and ambitious BIPOC. It truly feels like a safe place where I can relax, vibe, learn, and continue to thrive!

If You Could Have Dinner with 3 people, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?

I would first choose Belle Hooks because of how much I admire her as a feminist, writer, and activist. I would love to hear how she pushed past writers block and maintained courage to always speak with conviction.

Viola Davis! Because I love her and that book of hers really broke my heart and put it back together. I am in awe of her journey and I could only dream to reach the heights she has. So yeah I’d have to talk her ear off lol
